Fi Series 3+ vs Tractive DOG 6

Fi Series 3+ is built around long battery life and a collar-integrated design; Tractive DOG 6 is smaller and lighter, with shorter battery expectations but a simpler attachable-tracker format. Both require an active membership for their connected tracking features.

PetTechVerdicts take
Choose Fi Series 3+ if minimizing charging is the priority and a 47 g integrated collar device suits your dog. Choose Tractive DOG 6 if you want a lighter 39 g tracker that attaches to an existing collar and you are comfortable charging more often. Published battery claims are not directly comparable unless you account for how much time the dog spends away from a home/power-saving zone.

Battery is the biggest practical separator

Fi's current support documentation is unusually useful because it gives ranges by activity pattern rather than only a maximum. For Series 3+, Fi lists up to three months for mostly-at-home use, four to six weeks for moderate use, and up to two weeks for high outdoor use.

Tractive publishes up to 14 days for DOG 6 when Power Saving Zones are used and up to six days without them. This does not make one system objectively better: it means Fi is the more compelling choice when charging frequency is a major pain point, while Tractive trades some battery endurance for a smaller attachable device.

Device format matters for small and medium dogs

Fi Series 3+ is 47 g and includes a collar band/base ecosystem. Tractive DOG 6 is 39 g and clips to a compatible collar. Eight grams is not a huge difference for a large dog, but device shape and how it sits on the neck can matter more than the raw number for smaller dogs.

Do not compare membership price from one promotional checkout screen

Both products depend on subscriptions, and both brands vary plan structure by term, region and promotion. A fair comparison therefore uses the price you can actually buy today, then annualizes activation and membership charges over the period you expect to keep the tracker.

Normalize the subscription yourself.

Bottom line

Fi Series 3+ is the stronger fit for owners who hate charging and want a collar-integrated tracker with long home-heavy battery life. Tractive DOG 6 is the stronger fit when a lighter attachable tracker and Tractive's service structure suit the dog and travel pattern better. For either one, check current membership pricing before purchase.
